Philly Cheese Steak Meatballs
These Philly Cheese Steak Meatballs are just as delicious as the popular Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich, but in a bite size meatball with an incredible cheese sauce.
Ingredients:
- For the Meatballs:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup shredded provolone cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- For the Cheese Sauce:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare Meatballs:
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, onion, green bell pepper, breadcrumbs, shredded provolone, egg, garlic, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
- Shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake:
- Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until they are cooked through and slightly browned on the outside.
- Make Cheese Sauce:
- While the meatballs are baking, melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir in the flour to create a roux and cook for about 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in the milk and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens.
- Remove from heat and stir in the shredded provolone cheese until the sauce is smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve:
- Serve the meatballs hot, drizzled with the provolone cheese sauce.
