Philly Cheese Steak Meatballs

These Philly Cheese Steak Meatballs are just as delicious as the popular Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich, but in a bite size meatball with an incredible cheese sauce.

Ingredients:

  • For the Meatballs:
    • 1 lb ground beef
    • 1 small onion, finely chopped
    • 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
    • 1 cup breadcrumbs
    • 1/2 cup shredded provolone cheese
    • 1 egg
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • For the Cheese Sauce:
    • 2 tbsp butter
    • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
    • 1 cup milk
    • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
    • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare Meatballs:
    • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, onion, green bell pepper, breadcrumbs, shredded provolone, egg, garlic, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
    • Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
    • Shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Bake:
    • Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until they are cooked through and slightly browned on the outside.
  4. Make Cheese Sauce:
    • While the meatballs are baking, melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
    • Stir in the flour to create a roux and cook for about 1 minute.
    • Gradually whisk in the milk and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens.
    • Remove from heat and stir in the shredded provolone cheese until the sauce is smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve the meatballs hot, drizzled with the provolone cheese sauce.
