Serve them with a creamy ranch or spicy dipping sauce for a true Southern treat!
Ingredients:
- 1 jar of dill pickle chips, drained and patted dry
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning (plus extra for garnish)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra spice)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 cup cornmeal or breadcrumbs (for extra crunch)
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions:
- Set Up Coating Station: In one bowl, combine flour, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne, salt, and pepper. In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk and egg. Finally, add cornmeal or breadcrumbs to a third bowl.
- Coat the Pickles: Dip each pickle chip first into the flour mixture, then into the buttermilk-egg mixture, and finally into the cornmeal/breadcrumbs for an extra crispy texture.
- Heat the Oil: Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C). To test, drop in a small amount of batter—if it sizzles and floats, the oil is ready.
- Fry: Working in small batches, fry the coated pickles for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve: Sprinkle with a little extra Cajun seasoning, if desired, and serve hot with ranch or a spicy dipping sauce.
