Nacho Doritos Beer Battered Bacon
THICK BACON STRIPS BATTERED IN NACHO DORITOS BEER BATTER THEN DEEP FRIED TO GOLDEN PERFECTION.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb thick-cut bacon
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup Nacho Cheese Doritos, finely crushed
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 egg
- 1 cup beer (lager or ale for a richer flavor)
- Oil for frying (such as canola or vegetable)
Instructions:
- Preparation:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Lay the bacon strips on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 10-12 minutes, just until it starts to crisp but is still pliable. You don’t want it fully cooked as it will be fried later. Remove from oven and let it cool.
- Crush Doritos:
- Place Nacho Cheese Doritos in a zip-top bag and crush them until they’re finely ground. You can use a rolling pin or a heavy can to do this.
- Create Batter:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, crushed Doritos, paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- In a small bowl, beat the egg and then mix it with the beer. Add this to the dry ingredients and whisk until you have a smooth batter.
- Heat Oil:
- Pour enough oil into a deep fryer or a large pot to submerge the bacon slices. Heat the oil to 375°F (190°C).
- Dip Bacon:
- Dip each slice of the par-cooked bacon into the beer batter, ensuring each piece is fully coated.
- Fry Bacon:
- Carefully place the battered bacon in the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Work in batches to avoid overcrowding the pot.
- Drain:
- Use tongs to remove the bacon from the oil and place them on a wire rack set over a baking sheet to drain excess oil.
- Serve:
- Once all the bacon is fried and drained, plate it up with your choice of dipping sauces, such as ranch dressing, spicy mayonnaise, or a cheese sauce for an extra indulgent treat.
Enjoy your Nacho Doritos Beer Battered Bacon as a decadent snack during game days, parties, or when you feel like trying something uniquely delicious!
